The modern architectural shapes with an undulating feel.... the ancient influences updated with a contemporary industrial twist... the refined, radiant pieces like artefacts from the past... There are many reasons to be thankful that Florence jeweller Marco Panconesi decided to explore all his options before launching his eponymous brand in Paris in 2019. His designs are a celebration of a brand new aesthetic, an expression of movement, like polished heirlooms from his many observations (naturalist, astronomical, archaeological), highly coveted by fashion-forward women and men alike. Fascinated by the visual heritage of ancient Greece and Rome, the designer surrounds us with swathes of precious jewels featuring protective symbols and forms. Like these stunning ear cuffs and oversized hoops, created at the request of Rihanna for Fenty, and - with any luck - able to ward off even the most brazen of admirers (unwanted, of course).
Panconesi may well exude a fresh, youthful charm, but the jeweller is far from a novice. A graduate of the Polimoda fashion institute, he has been discreetly honing his talent in major fashion houses for a number of years - first at Givenchy in the Tisci era, then as director of men's jewellery at Balenciaga. Now firmly in the spotlight, Panconesi brings us jewellery packed with meaning, to be worn, shared and passed on, whose radiance is only magnified by the patina of time.
